Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who represents Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, has publicly addressed recent challenges facing her state and upcoming federal budget negotiations through a series of posts on social media.

On August 25, 2025, Slotkin commented on the impact of a severe ice storm in Northern Michigan and called for federal assistance. She stated, "Northern Michigan families have shown resilience in the face of this once-in-a-generation ice storm, and now FEMA needs to step up. That's why I support Governor Whitmer's appeal. Michigan needs these resources so we can rebuild and move forward."

Later that day, she shared another post containing only a link: "https://t.co/LUOajCEscu" (August 25, 2025).

Addressing national legislative priorities on August 26, 2025, Slotkin wrote about the impending deadline for passing a federal budget and her stance on health care policy. She posted, "We have a big moment coming up on Sept. 30 to pass a federal budget. I'm willing to work with anyone, but I am going to fight for health care.

And if you are not going to do anything to restore health care to Americans or lower the price, it is going to be tough to get my vote."

Slotkin has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Mike Bishop as representative of Michigan’s 7th district. Born in New York City in 1976 and currently residing in Lansing, she graduated from Cornell University with a BA in 1998.
