Congressman Tom Barrett, who represents Michigan’s 7th congressional district, recently highlighted local employers, veteran support initiatives, and legislative progress in a series of posts on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

On September 5, 2025, Barrett praised the business environment in mid-Michigan by stating, "This comes as no surprise to those of us who call mid-Michigan home. Lansing-area employers are the best! Check out this article to learn why employees in our region believe working here is the best in the state."

The following day, Barrett acknowledged the VFW National Home in Eaton Rapids for its role in supporting veterans. In a post dated September 6, 2025, he wrote, "Thanks again to the VFW National Home in Eaton Rapids for the warm welcome last week for our roundtable discussion with your team and other local veterans. I’m grateful for your partnership and your century of dedicated service to our veterans." The VFW National Home has served military families and veterans for over one hundred years.

Later that same day, Barrett announced progress on legislation aimed at improving emergency response and supporting veterans. He stated on September 6, 2025: "This week, the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee approved long-overdue legislation to improve the federal response to emergencies, which included my bill to recruit veterans and ensure our disaster response efforts leave no one behind. Next stop the House floor!" The Transportation & Infrastructure Committee is responsible for oversight of federal infrastructure projects and emergency management programs.

Barrett’s recent posts reflect ongoing efforts within Michigan’s 7th district to promote economic development, honor longstanding institutions supporting veterans such as the VFW National Home in Eaton Rapids—a community recognized nationally for its work—and advance legislation related to disaster preparedness and veteran employment.
