Congressman Tom Barrett has recently shared updates on his legislative and community activities through a series of posts on social media. His statements address topics ranging from national defense policy to transportation infrastructure and the integration of artificial intelligence in veterans’ health care.

On September 14, 2025, Barrett emphasized the importance of the annual defense legislation, stating, "The National Defense Authorization Act is critical to keeping our military strong and lethal, deterring our adversaries, and maintaining peace. I’m proud that this year’s bill also includes my plan to start the process of equipping military helicopters with collision avoidance". The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is an annual federal law that specifies the budget, expenditures, and policies for U.S. Department of Defense operations.

Later that day, Barrett highlighted his engagement with local transportation providers in Michigan. He wrote on September 14: "Dean Transportation drives countless students and other mid-Michigan residents where they need to go. Thanks to Patrick Dean and the entire team for having me at your headquarters in Lansing to discuss my work on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee." Dean Transportation is a regional provider serving educational institutions and communities across Michigan.

On September 15, Barrett addressed advancements in technology within veteran services: "AI is going to be a critical tool to help deliver health care to veterans in the 21st century. We must take the necessary steps to ensure we use it wisely and that we’re protecting our veterans' data and information. Thank you to @michiganstateu’s Dr. Mohammad Ghassemi for". Artificial intelligence is increasingly being explored as a means of improving efficiency and outcomes in healthcare delivery for veterans.

Barrett serves as a member of Congress representing Michigan's 7th District. His committee assignments include roles focused on both transportation infrastructure and national security matters.
