The Michigan Democratic Party and the Michigan House Democratic Fund have started an advertising and organizing campaign in state House District 86. The campaign aims to inform constituents about Representative Nancy DeBoer’s voting record.

A central part of the effort is a mail campaign currently being distributed to residents in DeBoer’s district. The mail pieces highlight her votes against funding for free school breakfast and lunch, school safety and mental health services, as well as childcare and early literacy programs. The campaign also points out her votes to reduce funding for the Michigan State Police and against protections for victims of human trafficking.

Alongside the mailings, there is a digital advertising campaign that targets tens of thousands of people in the district. The ad focuses on DeBoer's support for a state budget that reduces funding for health care and law enforcement.

The program includes an organizing initiative that will involve door-to-door outreach in Ottawa County to discuss DeBoer’s voting record with constituents.

“Nancy DeBoer chose to betray West Michigan families by backing a budget that strips health care, defunds the police, and abandons victims of crime,” said Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel Jr. “She sided with the most extreme voices in her caucus instead of standing up for her community.”

“Representative DeBoer has abused the trust of the constituents who elected her to be a voice for West Michigan families in Lansing,” said House Democratic Leader Ranjeev Puri (D-Canton). “In 2026, House Democrats are going to make sure every single constituent in her district knows about her votes to abandon victims of human trafficking, eliminate free school lunch, and defund the Michigan State Police. That effort starts now.”
