The Michigan Secretary of State office located at 21572 Ecorse Rd. in Taylor will be closed for two weeks starting Monday, October 6, due to a remodeling project. The office is expected to reopen and resume normal service at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 20.
The planned updates include replacing the carpet, installing partitions and plexiglass, as well as making other building improvements.

Self-service stations are also available for instant renewals of license plates, driver’s licenses, and IDs. These kiosks offer some additional transactions and support nine language options. The closest self-service stations can be found at the Kroger store at 7000 Monroe Blvd. in Taylor and at the Allen Park Rec Center at 15800 White Ave. in Allen Park.
Residents who need in-person assistance during the closure can schedule visits to nearby Secretary of State offices by visiting Michigan.gov/SOS or calling 888-767-6424. The nearest alternative offices are located at 26603 Michigan Ave. in Inkster and 18412 Telegraph Rd. in Brownstown Township. Both locations operate weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Wednesdays when hours are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Most transactions typically handled at the Taylor office can instead be completed online through Michigan.gov/SOS.
