The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin repairs on the M-123 overpass at I-75 in Mackinac County starting October 9, 2025. The project involves about $500,000 in substructure repairs to address additional pier issues following a rebuilding effort completed last year.
During construction, the right lane of northbound I-75 at the overpass will be closed using a concrete barrier wall. Drivers should expect a 12-foot lane width restriction and a posted speed limit of 60 mph, reduced to 45 mph where workers are present. The work is expected to be completed by November 14, 2025.
According to MDOT, "This work will extend the lifespan of the structure and increase safety for motorists."
Economic modeling indicates that this investment will support five jobs directly and indirectly in the region.
The closest community to the construction area is St. Ignace.
