Congressman Tom Barrett shared updates on recent events and policy positions in a series of posts on September 30, 2025. The tweets highlighted his participation in local community events, legislative efforts to support small businesses, and his stance regarding congressional pay during potential government shutdowns.

In a post from September 30, 2025, Barrett wrote: "Last week’s @ATHENA_WIN Evening of Empowerment was an inspiring tribute to all the dedicated and driven women in the Lansing area who build each other up and keep our community thriving. Thanks for allowing me to join you in celebrating the female leaders of mid-Michigan."

Later that day, he described a visit to a local business: "During my recent visit to Bliss & Fish in Pinckney, I had the chance to speak with the team responsible for such incredible food and service. I’m proud to have helped secure no tax on tips and permanent relief for small businesses as part of the Working Family Tax Cuts to help". Barrett referenced recent tax relief measures aimed at supporting working families and small businesses.

Addressing concerns about a possible government shutdown, Barrett stated: "Members of Congress shouldn’t get paid while our federal employees and troops on the frontlines go without. If Democrats shut down the government tonight, I’ll be withholding my pay until we get it back open for the American people.

I voted with conviction to keep the government".

Barrett represents Michigan's 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. His statements reflect ongoing debates over fiscal policy and congressional accountability during periods when federal funding is at risk.
