Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who represents Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed recent events and her legislative priorities in a series of social media posts on September 30, 2025.

In response to an incident in Grand Blanc, Slotkin commended local emergency personnel: "Our first responders in Grand Blanc ran toward the danger. They are heroes." (posted at 19:42 UTC).

Slotkin further commented on the nature of the event later that evening, writing, "The targeted violence in Grand Blanc was meant to terrorize. And by making us afraid, it is infringing on our freedom. If people don’t feel they are safe in their sanctuaries, that is infringing on their freedom." (posted at 20:52 UTC).

Addressing her stance ahead of a government funding deadline, Slotkin emphasized her focus on health care policy: "Since July, I have been very clear: any conversation about my vote needs to start with health care. My statement ahead of the government funding deadline." (posted at 22:38 UTC).

Elissa Slotkin has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Mike Bishop as representative for Michigan’s 7th district. Born in New York City in 1976 and currently residing in Lansing, she holds a BA from Cornell University.
