With the recent approval of Michigan's state budget, Democratic leaders in Lansing have announced measures aimed at supporting families, seniors, and workers across the state. The budget includes provisions to maintain free school meals, reduce expenses for seniors and working families, and establish a long-term plan for road infrastructure that is expected to create thousands of union jobs.
Curtis Hertel, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party, commented on the passage: “We’re so proud of Michigan Democrats in the state legislature for fighting and delivering for families across the state. By protecting health care and free school meals, lowering costs, and fixing the damn roads, Michigan Dems are putting money back into working Michiganders’ pockets while creating jobs and opportunity for years to come.
“Democrats here in Michigan also took action to protect working families from the huge federal cuts, attacks on our health care, and economic uncertainty that we are facing thanks to Republicans in DC. At the end of the day, Democrats are ensuring that this state budget works for your families and your communities — because no matter what, we will never stop fighting for a brighter future for allMichiganders.”
The approved budget responds to concerns about potential federal funding reductions by providing additional support at the state level. It also focuses on investment in public services such as education and transportation while aiming to address economic challenges faced by residents.
