Two days later, on October 7, Barrett marked the second anniversary of the October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, stating, "It’s been two years since Hamas terrorists invaded Israel, brutally murdering more than 1,200 innocent men, women, and children while taking hundreds more hostage. May the world never forget the evil it witnessed on that dark day as we work towards a lasting peace that brings all". Later on October 7, Barrett addressed concerns related to the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on veterans, posting, "I understand the uncertainty many are feeling during this government shutdown, especially our veterans.
