Congressman Tom Barrett, who represents Michigan's 7th congressional district, posted a series of messages on October 13, 2025, addressing topics ranging from local business achievements to national defense and government operations.

In his first post of the day, Barrett congratulated a Lansing-based business: "Congratulations to Güd Marketing in Lansing for earning national recognition as one of the top 100 small businesses in America by the @uschamber and @growwithco! Small businesses like this one power our communities, provide jobs, and drive innovation across mid-Michigan — and we https://t.co/dKVmljsvL9" (October 13, 2025). Güd Marketing’s inclusion among the top 100 small businesses highlights its role in supporting local economies and fostering job creation.

Later that day, Barrett recognized the U.S. Navy’s long-standing service: "For 250 years strong, the brave sailors of the U.S. Navy have courageously defended our shores here at home and protected our freedom on waters around the globe. I’m grateful for the heroic service of every sailor — past and present — who has put on the uniform to keep us safe. https://t.co/SXr53E154y" (October 13, 2025). The U.S. Navy celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2025, marking a significant milestone in American military history.

In his final post of October 13, Barrett addressed challenges facing veterans amid political gridlock: "‘As Washington grinds to a halt, America’s veterans once again find themselves paying the price.’

I couldn’t agree more. Washington’s dysfunction shouldn’t be our veterans’ burden to bear, which is why I voted to keep the government open and prevent these problems from becoming" (October 13, 2025). Congressional stalemates over government funding have previously threatened services relied upon by veterans.

Barrett’s posts reflect ongoing concerns about supporting small businesses, honoring military service, and protecting veterans from disruptions caused by federal government shutdowns.
