Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a U.S. Congress member representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, has recently shared constituents’ concerns about changes in the health insurance marketplace through a series of posts on her social media account.
On October 14, 2025, Slotkin highlighted feedback from constituents experiencing difficulties with insurance providers leaving the marketplace: "Several people wrote in about insurers leaving the https://t.co/6af0Z7VUAU marketplace, which gives people fewer options. A man from Berkley sent me this letter he received from his provider that is leaving the marketplace.

Later that day, she shared another account from a constituent in Houghton concerned about rising costs and uncertainty regarding tax credits: "This is common. People still don’t know HOW MUCH they will pay, but know it is going to be more. A woman from Houghton wrote in and told me she was ONLY able to afford insurance because of the https://t.co/6af0Z7Wsqs tax credits and now is worried she will have to drop it. In a third post on October 14, Slotkin quoted a clergy member facing increased premiums for employer-provided insurance: "A clergy member in mid-Michigan told me that her employer provided insurance will go up next year. She said the plan for her and her husband will cost $2,244 MORE a year ($160 a month) for the same coverage in 2026. Share your story at: https://t.co/866HZY2sUf https://t.co/lMRoCqE1L1".
Slotkin’s engagement with constituents comes amid ongoing national debates over healthcare affordability and accessibility. She has represented Michigan’s 7th District since replacing Mike Bishop in 2019 and currently resides in Lansing after being born in New York City in 1976. Slotkin graduated from Cornell University with a BA in 1998.
