The day-use area and boating access site at Lake Gogebic State Park will be closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Daylight Time on Wednesday. The closure is to allow contractors to run new power lines across the road and install new panels in the day-use area.
Lake Gogebic State Park is located along M-64 in Gogebic County. During the temporary closure, boaters can use alternative launch sites at the Bergland Dock, about 12 miles north along M-28, or the East Shore access site, which is 8 miles from the park on East Shore Road.
The electrical work is being carried out by Keweenaw Power & Lite, LLC of Hancock. This project is part of a broader effort to improve the campground at Lake Gogebic State Park, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act.
