Sen. Elissa Slotkin, U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, has used her social media platform to highlight concerns over health care access and ongoing political disagreements in Washington.

On October 14, 2025, Slotkin posted about the potential impact of the government shutdown on health care coverage: "We are on the verge of a health care crisis, where over 15 million could lose health care and President Trump still refuses to negotiate to end the govt shutdown. But today, he celebrated a $20 billion taxpayer-funded bailout to his buddy in Argentina."

The following day, Slotkin emphasized personal stories from Michigan residents affected by health care issues: "A child care business owner. A retiree from Jackson. A clergy member from mid-Michigan. These are the health care stories Michiganders shared with me.

Later that day, she called for constructive dialogue: "We want to have a conversation like adults and talk about health care." This statement was made on October 15, 2025.

Slotkin, who was born in New York City in 1976 and now resides in Lansing, has consistently focused on health policy during her tenure in Congress. She earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University in 1998.

Her recent posts come amid heightened tensions over a government shutdown and debates regarding federal health care programs.
