Sen. Elissa Slotkin calls for action on health care, classroom cell phone bans, and congressional negotiations

Sen. Elissa Slotkin, currently representing Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, made a series of statements on her official social media account regarding healthcare, education policy, and congressional negotiations.

On October 20, 2025, Slotkin addressed healthcare policy by stating, "I am not just going to roll over on health care."

The following day, Slotkin proposed a nationwide ban on cell phones in classrooms, posting on October 21, 2025: "Ban cell phones in every K-12 classroom in America."

Later that same day, Slotkin commented on congressional negotiations, criticizing the House of Representatives for not being in session. She wrote, "The House is on vacation. Get your butts to Washington to negotiate."

Slotkin has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Mike Bishop and represents Michigan’s 7th district. Born in New York City in 1976 and currently residing in Lansing, she graduated from Cornell University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
