Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, has recently shared several pointed remarks on her social media account regarding military leadership changes, U.S.-China relations, and federal SNAP benefits.

On November 3, 2025, Slotkin posted: "17 General Officers have been removed or have retired in nine months. I'm a former CIA officer – if I saw this in a foreign military, we would call that a purge."

The following day, November 4, she commented on recent diplomatic developments with China: "There wasn’t much that came out of this deal with China other than to just set us back to where we were on the day Trump was inaugurated."

Later that same day, Slotkin addressed issues related to federal nutrition assistance: "The President has all the authority he needs to pay SNAP benefits out today. A federal court ordered him to do it over the weekend. Now, he’s saying the quiet part out loud: he’s choosing to withhold food and use hungry kids as a political weapon."

Slotkin's background includes service as a CIA officer prior to her election to Congress. She was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. Slotkin graduated from Cornell University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
