Senator Elissa Slotkin, who represents Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of messages on her social media account addressing rising health insurance premiums, military modernization efforts at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, and environmental contamination issues in Michigan.

On November 4, 2025, Slotkin highlighted a constituent's struggle with increasing healthcare costs: "A woman from Kalamazoo logged into https://t.co/6af0Z7VUAU and discovered her premiums will increase by 600%. Going from a little over $100/month to $720/month. She told me she may have to forego health insurance this year. Share your story: https://t.co/866HZY2sUf".

Later that evening, Slotkin addressed defense priorities for her state, stating: "I want to make sure the bureaucracy is not holding back the President’s timeline to bring F-15EXs to Selfridge."

In another post on the same day, Slotkin discussed bipartisan cooperation regarding environmental cleanup efforts in Michigan: "Cleaning up PFAS isn’t a Democrat vs. Republican issue. It’s about our water and our kids. Talk to the people on the ground in Oscoda and Grayling. If you can’t swim in the lakes, if you can’t drink the water, it feels like something has been stolen from you."

Elissa Slotkin began serving as a member of Congress for Michigan's 7th district in 2019 after replacing Mike Bishop ([source](https://www.house.gov/representatives#state-mi)). Born in New York City in 1976 and currently residing in Lansing, Slotkin holds a BA from Cornell University (1998).
