Republican lawmakers in Michigan are ready to start getting the state back to its pre-COVID-19 position, as they launch a task force that will start taking steps to reopen the state, according to the Michigan Republicans website.

Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey (R-Clarklake) previously said that a task force would be developed to help push Michigan out of the shutdown situation it’s currently in due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Senator Shirkey has used his small business, Orbitform, which is located in Jackson, to produce much-needed face masks.

The Michigan Chamber of Commerce and National Federation of Independent Business have acknowledged Shirkey’s efforts.

Laura Cox, Michigan Republican Party Chairperson, said, according to the Michigan Republicans, “I would like to thank Majority Leader Shirkey for his initiative in seeking to get Michigan’s economy reopened and back on track. Our Michigan businesses are the backbone of our state, and it is very reassuring that they have an ally in the legislature and a light at the end of this tunnel.”
