Rep. Elissa Slotkin, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan's 7th District since 2019, has voiced concerns over various issues via her social media platform. Slotkin, born in New York City in 1976 and now residing in Lansing, used Twitter to discuss matters ranging from national security to agricultural policy on March 28, 2025.
Slotkin criticized statements by Secretary Hegseth regarding leaked Signal chats. On March 28, she noted, "Let’s get past the parlor games and remember what happened with these leaked Signal chats. They disclosed classified information that could put lives at stake. Now, Secretary Hegseth needs to man up and admit his mistake -- or resign and stop being a distraction."
Further addressing the issue, Slotkin called for bipartisan accountability. In another tweet the same day, she stated, "Folks in both parties should call for accountability regarding classified info disclosed over Signal. It's not partisan, it's about the safety of our troops. If the shoe was on the other foot, and this happened to a Democrat, my colleagues would have plenty to say."
Addressing agricultural policy, Slotkin highlighted the need for updating the farm bill, noting its outdated status. Later on March 28, Slotkin tweeted, "We are using a farm bill that pre-dates COVID — and it badly needs an update. The world of ag has changed significantly since then, and our policies need to actually work for MI's farmers. Was glad to meet with the @MichFarmBureau to talk about the farm bill and how to address."
