Michigan Credit Union League issued the following announcement on July 23
Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) recently made a donation to The Friends Together Wheelz Campaign, an organization that offers assistance to community members touched by cancer in the form of support groups, assistance with transportation, education and an open door so no one has to face cancer alone.
The Wheelz Campaign was a fundraiser to assist in the purchase of a new van to help transport patients to and from their appointments. Friends Together previously had two vans and was putting more than 4,000 miles on these vans each month assisting community members throughout Alcona, Alpena, Iosco, Montmorency, Oscoda and Presque Isle County.
The goal of the campaign was to raise $30,000 through donations and community support and just two months after the campaign was kicked off, Friends Together was able to purchase their third van. AAACU supported this campaign with a donation of $7,500.
