Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a U.S. Congress member representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, addressed a range of topics in recent social media posts, including Veterans Day commemorations, health insurance changes in Michigan, and federal support for law enforcement.
On November 12, 2025, Slotkin reflected on her participation in a Veterans Day program at Roscommon High School. She wrote: "Great to (virtually) join the veterans, educators, and students at the Veterans Day program at Roscommon High School who gathered to talk about what this day means. Throughout my career, I’ve seen up close and personal how service calls so many to do something bigger than https://t.co/9wwyPWZOHv".
Later that same day, she commented on recent developments affecting health insurance coverage in Michigan: "Cause and effect: The Big, Beautiful Bill passed July 4, and now, four major health plans have terminated their plans for 200,000 Michiganders. https://t.co/lbegPMKJDk".
On November 13, 2025, Slotkin addressed issues related to military service and public safety funding: "I served alongside our military, and I care about the men and women in our uniformed military deeply. If President Trump were serious about fighting crime in our communities, he would work with Congress to fund state and local law enforcement. This bill does just that."
Slotkin’s background includes serving as a member of Congress since replacing Mike Bishop in 2019. She was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. Slotkin holds a BA from Cornell University.
