County of Clinton issued the following announcement on July 14.
Clinton County provides a flag retirement box for your old American flags!
The disposal box is located right inside the Administration Office (Suite 2100) of the Clinton County Courthouse. Flags should be folded respectfully before being placed in the box.
The box is provided by the National and Michigan Association of Counties. It gives the community a way to properly dispose of used and tattered American flags.
Members of VFW will be responsible for the proper disposal of worn-out flags.
"This centrally-located drop-off provides convenience while respecting our national symbol," said Kam Washburn, Clinton County Board of Commissioners Chairperson. "The county is unified in helping enable our citizens to respect our great nation while disposing of old or worn out flags."
