City of Saint Johns issued the following announcement on July 26.
Detroit Blues Soul Rocker performs at the ‘Concert in the Park’ series on July 28
David Gerald, a Blues Soul Rockin’ musician will be featured on the Wednesday, July 28 ‘Concert in the Park’ series. This special concert will start at 7:00 p.m. in the William E. Tennant Performance Shell in the beautiful St. Johns City Park.
David, the son of Rural Mississippi born and raised parents, grew up to the sounds of the blues and R&B music in his hometown, Detroit. He started playing the guitar at 14, influenced by Prince and ‘80s rock guitarists. His dynamic, blues-infused rock and soul hybrid has been captivating audiences across the country for over a decade.
“Gerald, having performed in many local blues, R&B, and rock bands in his earlier years, brings to each performance a unique blend of music that is sure to reach everyone,” says Bill Tennant, concert coordinator. “Now playing nationally with his own band, he performs at clubs and festivals across the United States. He is considered one of the top Blues musicians of our era.”
The concert will feature a nice mix of blues, R&B, along with some rock thrown in. David’s recordings and radio play are making him a much sought-after artist.
The concert is sponsored by the Clinton County Arts Council and the City of St. Johns. It is open to the public free of charge – donations are graciously accepted.
All concerts are presented rain or shine. The Lion’s Club food trailer will be available this year – social distancing and safety precautions are strongly encouraged. The CCAC receives funding from the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
