CANCELLED: Water/Wastewater Ad Hoc Committee Work Session

Istock 000037773506 medium

City of Saline recently issued the following announcement.

Tonight's work meeting has been rescheduled to September 13 at 6 p.m. Below is a statement from City Manager O'Toole on the rescheduling of the meeting

CANCELLED: Water/Wastewater Ad Hoc Committee Work Session

Due to last week’s severe weather and sustained power outages, staff time and resources had to be redirected to response activities at the water and wastewater treatment plants. Both plants remained operational throughout the outage thanks to backup generator capacity, but the wastewater treatment plant specifically required some process related corrections and additional monitoring. As was previously reported, during the early morning hours of August 12, 2021 the wastewater treatment plant saw 4.3” of rainfall that resulted in an onsite sanitary sewer overflow event. That overflow was contained to the plant grounds and cleared the same day. The ad hoc committee will be reviewing the impacts of the storm to recommend additional plant related improvements or operational changes moving forward.

As a result, the meeting originally scheduled for August 16, 2021 at 6pm has been postponed until September 13, 2021 at 6pm. In the interim, questions or concerns about water treatment plant or wastewater treatment plant operations can be directed to City Manager O’Toole at cotoole@cityofsaline.org.
