County of Clinton recently issued the following announcement.

Did you know the St. Johns Recycling center accepts only #1 & #2 numbered plastic bottles and jugs? To find the number, look for the recycling symbol on your plastic bottle or jug. These numbers represent the different types of plastics used to make the packaging.

The St. Johns Recycling center is not accepting clam shells (from bakery products or salads). Please do not place any toys, tupperware, combs, or toothbrushes into the recycling bins.  They belong in the trash!  If the plastic material is not a bottle or jug, labeled #1 or #2 plastic, it is not accepted at this site.
