The City of East Lansing will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the completion of the White Park Trail Extension Project on Monday, May 16 at 11 a.m. at Albert A. White Memorial Park, 3283 E. Lake Lansing Road.
The White Park Trail Extension project was supported by $469,000 in funding from the Ingham County Trails and Parks Millage and a $300,000 Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR). The project consisted of extending the Northern Tier Trail through the park by installing asphalt pathways and crushed limestone trails. An elevated boardwalk overlooking the park’s vernal pool was also installed and improvements were made to the pond’s fishing habitats and erosion along the pond’s bank was repaired.
Speakers at the ribbon-cutting event will include East Lansing Mayor Ron Bacon, East Lansing Parks, Recreation and Arts Director Cathy DeShambo, East Lansing Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission Chair Adam DeLay and a representative from the MDNR.
Community members and media are welcome to attend. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at the pavilion adjacent to the parking lot off of Lake Lansing Road.
