City of Grand Ledge officers responded to the Meijer store

On September 1, 2022, at approximately 10:41 am City of Grand Ledge officers responded to the Meijer store at 730 E. Saginaw Hwy in reference to an individual armed with a knife and threatening suicide.  Upon arrival officers found the 28 yr. old Grand Ledge man still in possession of the knife and bleeding heavily from an apparent self-inflicted knife wound to his neck.  After a brief standoff the man was taken into custody and transported by ambulance to the hospital.  

Troopers from the Michigan State Police, Deputies from the Eaton County Sheriff's Department, Conservation Officers from the Department of Natural Resources, and the Grand Ledge Area Fire and Rescue assisted with the incident.  

The store was evacuated and closed for a period of time in the interest of public safety.
