Rep. Elissa Slotkin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district, has been actively addressing various issues through her recent social media posts. Her efforts encompass both national defense concerns and commemorative events reflecting on international tragedies.
On November 22, 2024, Rep. Slotkin highlighted her ongoing efforts with the House Armed Services Committee Democrats to address environmental clean-up responsibilities within the Pentagon. She stated, "As a member of @HASCDemocrats I’ve pressed the Pentagon on the urgent need for responsible clean-up, questioning leaders in hearings across administrations, writing bipartisan letters, meeting with department officials, and making call after call."
The following day, on November 23, 2024, she turned her attention to an exhibition in West Bloomfield that commemorates the tragic Hamas attack on October 7 at the Nova Music Festival. In her post she remarked: "Amid the tragedy of Oct. 7, the Hamas attack on the Nova Music Festival, where young people celebrating music and life were brutally killed and taken hostage. Now, a traveling exhibition in West Bloomfield commemorates that tragedy."
Continuing from this theme of reflection and connection between communities across borders during her visit to this exhibition she noted: "When I visited today, I was struck by how young Americans could see themselves in the young Israelis who were killed or kidnapped."
