The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced that the traffic signal at the intersection of M-26 and Houghton Canal Road in Houghton will switch to flash mode starting early Tuesday, October 28. During the winter season, the signal will display a flashing yellow light for M-26 and a flashing red light for Houghton Canal Road. MDOT stated that this schedule may change depending on weather conditions.

Drivers are advised by MDOT to pay attention to these changes and proceed with caution when approaching the intersection.

The traffic signal was installed earlier this summer. According to MDOT, it is planned to be in regular operation from approximately May through October each year, then set to flash mode during winter months. The specific timing of these seasonal changes depends on factors such as traffic volume and weather.
