Rep. Elissa Slotkin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district, shared updates regarding environmental efforts in Oscoda, Michigan. On November 22, 2024, Rep. Slotkin expressed optimism about recent developments: "Great news for Michigan! The Oscoda community has been pushing to address PFAS near the former Wurtsmith Air Force Base for years, so I’m glad to see remediation efforts taking a new direction."

She also acknowledged that while progress is being made, more work remains: "While this is an important step forward, there remains much work to do to ensure that the Oscoda community has regular access to clean, safe water. In another tweet from the same date, Slotkin emphasized the importance of sustained change: "The goal of all that effort is to achieve change and have it stick, so I’m pleased to see today’s announcement and that the department is listening to the community and responding accordingly."
