Rep. Elissa Slotkin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district, shared insights into her recent engagements and legislative focus through a series of tweets on December 3, 2024. These posts reflect her ongoing commitment to supporting seasonal business owners in Michigan.

In a tweet posted on December 3, 2024, Rep. Slotkin described a "full-circle moment" as she met with seasonal business owners from Mackinac and other parts of Michigan for her first official meeting as Senator-elect in her temporary office. She noted that these same business owners were among her first meetings when she began her term in the House of Representatives in 2019. "A full-circle moment: seasonal business owners from Mackinac and elsewhere in MI came to see me for my first official meeting in my temporary office as a Senator-elect. Amazingly, the same business owners were one of my first meetings in 2019 in my then-new House office."

Continuing on this theme, another tweet highlighted Rep. Slotkin's dedication to ensuring that businesses have access to legal and vetted seasonal workers during their peak seasons. She emphasized this issue has been an important focus throughout her tenure. "Ensuring that the beloved businesses on Mackinac and other seasonal enterprises have the legal, vetted seasonal workers they need during their busy season has always been an important focus of mine."

In her final tweet of the series, Rep. Slotkin expressed gratitude towards these business owners for their role in helping draft bipartisan legislation addressing this issue. She looks forward to continuing this work from the U.S. Senate. "So much so that they helped me write bipartisan legislation on this issue. I’m looking forward to continuing this work from the U.S. Senate."
