Rep. Elissa Slotkin, a U.S. Congress member representing Michigan’s 7th district, recently shared her views on economic and political issues through a series of tweets. Slotkin has been serving in Congress since 2019, having replaced former representative Mike Bishop. Her recent social media activity provides insight into her perspectives on trade wars, the automotive supply chain, and her interactions with fellow senators.

On February 3, 2025, Rep. Slotkin expressed concern over the potential economic impact of entering a trade war. She highlighted the worries voiced by unions, small businesses, and business groups regarding this issue. In her tweet, she stated: "Unions, small businesses and biz groups are sounding the alarm about the economic consequences of getting into a trade war." Slotkin questioned the approach of those in power who had promised to lower prices and expand American supply chains but seemed to be doing otherwise.

Her tweet read: "Our domestic auto suppliers, which keep our supply chains moving are also at risk."

Additionally, on February 3, 2025, Rep. Slotkin shared an anecdote about meeting with Senator Lisa Murkowski as part of her efforts to get acquainted with new Senate colleagues. During their meeting, Murkowski gifted Slotkin a dozen Alaskan salmon—a gesture that Slotkin appreciated and mentioned in her tweet: "As I continue to try and get to know all my new senate colleagues..."
