Rep. Elissa Slotkin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district, shared her thoughts and legislative activities through a series of tweets on February 5, 2025. Her posts addressed pressing political issues and introduced new legislation focused on energy security.

On February 5, Rep. Slotkin tweeted about the ongoing discussions in Washington D.C., emphasizing their direct impact on Michigan. She noted that the topics discussed included "federal funding, tariffs, executive orders, immigration and many other matters." She highlighted how these national issues are affecting local communities as they unfold in real-time ("Our discussions were on issues ripped from the headlines: federal funding, tariffs, executive orders, immigration and many other matters.").

Later that day, she directed her followers to learn more about a specific bill by providing a link for further information ("Learn more about the bill here: https://t.co/DarOMjZNC2").

In another tweet posted at the same time, Rep. Slotkin announced her introduction of the Bipartisan Banning SPR Oil Exports to Foreign Adversaries Act. This legislation aims to prevent nations considered hostile—such as Russia, Iran, or China—from purchasing oil from the United States' Strategic Petroleum Reserve. She collaborated with Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania on this initiative ("Energy security is national security.").
