Representative Elissa Slotkin, currently serving Michigan’s 7th District in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared her views on the importance of communicating with elected leaders and the impact of federal cuts on veterans' services. Slotkin's tweets underscore her commitment to ensuring that federal officials understand the ramifications of such cuts and advocate for veterans' welfare.

On March 23, 2025, Slotkin emphasized the need for organizations like the American Legion and VFW to actively engage with leaders at all levels. She stated, "Real stories like this make a difference and we need to be reaching out to elected leaders at all levels, from both parties, to communicate the impact. If you’re part of an org like the American Legion or the VFW, get engaged to bang pots and pans to get your voice heard."

In another tweet on the same day, she highlighted concerns raised by a veteran service group leader regarding potential staff cuts at VA offices. She noted, "The head of a vet service group raised concerns about cuts to VA staff who answer phones, process claims & secure approvals. Wait times are already long but if further cuts mean a vet can’t get a straight answer for a year+, it’s the same as cutting their medical care directly."

Slotkin also urged vocal advocacy against federal budget reductions affecting veterans. On March 23rd she tweeted: "Just another reason we need to be vocal to make sure all federal officials understand the consequences of federal cuts — and that they are expected to fight for our vets and our state."
