Rep. Elissa Slotkin, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan's 7th district, recently shared her concerns on Twitter regarding the handling of classified information. Her tweets addressed legal implications and potential risks associated with mishandling such sensitive data.

On March 25, 2025, Rep. Slotkin tweeted about the importance of laws like the Espionage Act, Presidential Records Act, and Federal Records Act. She emphasized that these laws provide clear guidelines for managing classified information and are applicable to everyone involved: "Laws like the Espionage Act, the Presidential Records Act, and the Federal Records Act lay out clear rules for how you can handle classified information — and those laws apply to every one of the people on that text chain."

In another tweet posted on the same day, she highlighted the seriousness of sharing classified information about military operations: "This is all classified information. Even the fact that they were considering this strike is classified. And for good reason: the time and method of an attack, if intercepted by our enemies, could have gotten American troops killed." This statement underscores her concern over potential threats to national security.

Further expressing her views on accountability within government ranks, Rep. Slotkin stated: "If these were regular soldiers or a civilian CIA officer like I was, they would be reprimanded, likely fired, prosecuted and possibly jailed. But this Administration believes they are above the law — and seemingly don’t care what US forces and US operations they put at risk." Her comments reflect a criticism of perceived disparities in enforcing legal standards among different government officials.
