Senator Elissa Slotkin, representing Michigan’s 7th District, addressed issues of national security, military policy, and environmental protection in a series of tweets on April 9, 2025. Slotkin, who entered Congress in 2019 and resides in Lansing, Michigan, has consistently advocated for maintaining United States security interests and preserving the integrity of natural resources.

On April 9, 2025, at 5:21 PM, Slotkin tweeted about a bipartisan effort to restrict the purchase of sensitive American land by foreign adversaries, specifically naming China, Iran, and North Korea. She stated, "Keeping sensitive American land out of the hands of our adversaries – like China, Iran, and North Korea – is critical. Our bipartisan bill builds on my work in the House and helps to stop land purchases that pose an actual risk to our national security."

Later on the same day, at 9:00 PM, Slotkin emphasized the importance of maintaining an apolitical military, ensuring it remains unbiased by any political influence. She remarked, "One of the most important features of our military is its apolitical nature. We must ensure it stays that way."

Subsequently, at 9:59 PM, Senator Slotkin highlighted the necessity of protecting the Great Lakes from the invasive Asian carp, acknowledging the correctness of the ongoing efforts to address this environmental challenge. She stated, "Look, when he's right, he's right. We've got to protect our Great Lakes from the Asian Carp."
