Senator Elissa Slotkin, representing Michigan’s 7th District, shared a series of tweets on April 8th and 9th, addressing issues related to social services and collaboration with fellow legislators. First, she offered assistance through her office for Social Security inquiries, and on the following day, she highlighted concerns over staffing cuts at the Social Security Administration (SSA), as well as discussed legislative efforts with fellow senators.

On April 8th, Senator Slotkin advised those experiencing difficulties contacting Social Security to reach out to her office for aid. She provided a contact number for her assistance: "If you can’t get through to Social Security, call us and we can try and help: 202.224.4822".

Continuing the discourse on the same date, Slotkin criticized proposed staff reductions at the SSA, mentioning the impact of such decisions, spearheaded by Elon Musk and DOGE, on public services. She expressed her concern about the potential reductions in social benefits, stating, "With outages lasting sometimes up to a day, it makes no sense why Elon Musk and DOGE are planning massive cuts to tech staff at the Social Security Admin. First, it was phone service and building closures — now this? It's clear as day they are coming after your benefits.".

On April 9th, Slotkin mentioned her collaborative efforts with Senators Bernie Moreno and Theresa Sheehy to advance a significant bill. This bill, according to her, is crucial for legislative progress. She noted, "I look forward to working with Senator @berniemoreno and @SenSheehyPress to get this critically important bill signed into law."
