On April 22, 2025, Slotkin expressed concerns about potential cuts to essential education funding that could significantly affect local school districts already in financial distress. She emphasized that such funding is critical for the operation of local schools.

In another post on the same day, Slotkin addressed worries regarding potential cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. She pointed out that these cuts could have serious implications for local hospitals, nursing homes, and mental health facilities, impacting the healthcare infrastructure in communities.

Slotkin also reflected on the role of political leaders in accurately assessing federal policies. On April 22, she urged leaders, irrespective of political alignment, to objectively evaluate how decisions made in Washington, D.C., affect Michigan. She stressed the importance of maintaining a balanced perspective on issues such as tariffs and the reduction of essential programs.

Elissa Slotkin, 46, originally from New York City, has been serving in Congress since she replaced former Congressman Mike Bishop in 2019. She graduated from Cornell University in 1998 and currently resides in Lansing, Michigan.
