Senator Elissa Slotkin, representing Michigan's 7th district since 2019, shared her views and insights on recent political and civic matters through a series of tweets. Slotkin, a New York City native who now resides in Lansing, is known for her commitment to public service, as reflected in her recent statements on important national and state issues.

On April 23, 2025, Senator Slotkin addressed a controversy involving Secretary Hegseth. She criticized him for failing to take responsibility for a past mistake, leading to ongoing issues. Slotkin stated, "If Secretary Hegseth had just owned his mistake a month ago, we wouldn’t be where we are today. But now he’s distracting from the very military he said he cared about. Resign."

Later that day, April 23, 2025, Slotkin focused on her meeting with the United States Coast Guard (USCG). Highlighting their role in ensuring safety along Michigan's vast water borders, she remarked, "Yesterday, I met with the @USCG, who are an important part of keeping our 430+ miles of water border safe. In an average year, they conduct 500 search and rescue missions in Michigan waters, saving over 100 lives and assisting 400 more."

Additionally, addressing career opportunities, Slotkin encouraged those interested in meaningful service to consider the Coast Guard Academy. In her tweet she wrote, "Also: want to have a great career in meaningful service? Check out the Coast Guard Academy and apply this fall!"

Senator Elissa Slotkin has served in U.S Congress representing Michigan's 7th district since 2019. She holds a BA degree from Cornell University, acquired in 1998.
