Sen. Elissa Slotkin addresses school lunch and national debt questions in recent briefings

Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who represents Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed constituents' concerns about recent legislative developments and national issues through a series of social media posts on July 20 and July 21, 2025.

On July 20, Slotkin responded to public inquiries regarding the impact of a presidential bill on school lunch programs, stating: "During this week’s Intel Briefing, I answered a question I’ve been getting a lot: how does the President’s bill affect school lunches? https://t.co/WkHjdTmWE3".

Continuing her outreach efforts the following day, Slotkin highlighted fiscal policy discussions from her weekly briefing: "During this week’s Intel Briefing, I talked about our national debt: what it means for your pocketbook and our national security. https://t.co/ynxvdGzN0T" (July 21).

Slotkin has represented Michigan's 7th District since 2019 after succeeding Mike Bishop. She was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University earned in 1998.
