Congressman Tom Barrett posted several messages on social media between August 4 and August 5, 2025, expressing appreciation for the U.S. Coast Guard and highlighting support for local businesses in Michigan.

In a post dated August 4, Barrett commemorated the anniversary of a key military service branch: "Happy 235th birthday to the U.S. Coast Guard! Thank you to the brave men and women who are “Always Ready” to defend our maritime borders, prevent illegal immigration and drug smuggling, and save lives. Our country is grateful for your service today and every day."

Shortly after, he encouraged followers to learn more about legislative efforts supporting the Coast Guard: "Learn more about how my colleagues and I are investing in the Coast Guard here:

On August 5, Barrett turned his attention to local economic matters by recognizing a long-standing business in his district: "The Home Depot in Howell has been providing tools and building supplies to homeowners and small businesses in Livingston County for 25 years. Thanks to the store’s management team for hosting me last week to discuss ways we can support local job providers and workers in".

Barrett serves as a U.S. Representative from Michigan's 7th Congressional District. The U.S. Coast Guard was founded on August 4, 1790, making it one of the nation’s oldest continuous seagoing services.
