Senator Elissa Slotkin, who has represented Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, expressed concerns about healthcare and political reforms in a series of posts on her social media account this week.

On August 4, 2025, Slotkin warned about potential increases in private insurance costs for Michigan residents, stating: "I'm deeply worried that every single Michigander is going to get that letter saying that their private insurance is going up. Everyone's going to pay. You're either at risk of losing your care, or you're at risk of paying more."

Later the same day, she called for legislative action against gerrymandering with the message: "We need to ban partisan gerrymandering now."

On August 5, Slotkin described a meeting with leaders from the NAACP Grand Rapids branch at Baxter Community Center. She discussed former President Trump’s proposed legislation and its implications on healthcare and other issues: "Yesterday, I sat down with leaders of the @naacpgr, where we discussed the details of Trump's 'Big, Beautiful, Bill' -- including kicking people off health care or raising their costs, food stamps, and a whole range of environmental concerns. Thanks to the Baxter Community Center".

Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998.
