Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, recently addressed issues related to congressional ethics, U.S.-China technology policy, and constituent engagement in a series of posts on her social media account.
On August 5, 2025, Slotkin commented on public concerns about congressional conduct: "The perception is that members of Congress aren’t working for you. They have access to classified information and then go and trade stocks based on that information. It has to stop. Ban insider stock trading and ban Corporate PAC donations."
The following day, she criticized former President Donald Trump’s reported stance on technology exports to China: "President Trump wants to let China buy some of our most sophisticated AI chips. This is the equivalent of President Truman giving Russia some of our best nuclear blueprints for a nuclear weapon in the middle of the Cold War." The comment reflects ongoing debates over U.S. export controls and national security risks associated with advanced technology transfers.

Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University (1998). Slotkin succeeded Mike Bishop as representative for Michigan’s 7th district.
