The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced progress on the Blue Water Bridge plaza expansion project in Port Huron. The agency is moving into the final phase of construction to reconfigure the Pine Grove Avenue and 10th Avenue intersection, a key component of the broader project.
MDOT reported that the eastbound I-94/I-69 Exit 275 (Pine Grove Connector) ramp to M-25 (Pine Grove Avenue) has been realigned and is now open to traffic. Construction work on noise walls along Scott Avenue is ongoing, with completion anticipated by November 15.
Component 1 of the plaza expansion project remains underway. This phase includes relocating Exit 275, reconfiguring the Pine Grove Avenue/10th Avenue intersection, rebuilding eastbound I-94/I-69 at the MDOT maintenance facility, and installing noise walls along both the eastbound I-94/I-69 exit to Pine Grove Avenue and westbound I-94/I-69 Business Loop from Garfield Street south to the Black River Bridge.
According to economic modeling, the $36.3 million investment for this project is projected to support 346 jobs directly and indirectly.
