The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced that the Michigan Avenue north roundabout at I-94 in Jackson will be closed for repairs from October 13 to October 27, 2025. The closure is necessary for corrective work being performed by the contractor prior to the completion of the larger I-94 project.

This repair is part of a multi-year, $162 million project to rebuild roads and bridges on I-94 in Jackson County. The project is funded through Governor Gretchen Whitmer's Rebuilding Michigan program, which aims to improve state highways and bridges that are essential for Michigan’s economy and high-traffic areas. The strategy behind this investment is to implement fixes that extend the lifespan of infrastructure and enhance its overall condition.

The closure will affect traffic near Jackson, with detours set up for both eastbound and westbound I-94 travelers. Eastbound drivers will be rerouted via the Parma Road on and off ramps at Exit 130, while westbound drivers will use Concord Road (Exit 127) and Parma Road (Exit 130) ramps. Motorists are advised to expect delays during the repair period.

MDOT stated, "These improvements will provide increased safety and mobility in this area of I-94, which is a significant local and national trade corridor."

According to economic modeling, the I-94 project is expected to support approximately 1,960 jobs directly and indirectly throughout its duration.

The overall project is scheduled for completion in November 2025.
