The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Menominee County Road Commission have announced a planned detour on US-2 near the US-2/US-41 intersection in Powers, Menominee County. The detour is required to allow for permitted railroad bridge work in the area.
According to MDOT, US-2 will be closed for five days starting at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 20. The closure will be lifted for the weekend around 5 p.m. on Friday, October 24. Work and the corresponding detour will resume at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 27, and continue until completion later that week. MDOT expects that absent unforeseen delays, normal traffic should resume by no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, October 31.
During this period, motorists are advised to follow signed detours using local roads.
In a statement regarding the closure, MDOT said: "Closing the highway during this type of work is necessary to keep motorists and workers safe."
