Ashley T., a ninth-grade student at Ann Arbor Huron High School, will represent Michigan in the finals of the 2025 National Civics Bee on November 11. The event, which begins at 10 a.m. EST, is open for public viewing through free registration.
The National Civics Bee brings together state champions from across the country after months of local and state-level competitions. The contest aims to foster civic engagement among sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade students while helping them develop problem-solving and leadership skills.
Ashley previously participated in youth government at Clague Middle School and has remained active in her community. She shared her perspective on civics education: “I enjoy civics because it helps get me connected with my community and make change.”
Winners of the National Civics Bee will receive national recognition and scholarships. The competition highlights opportunities for young people to engage with their communities through knowledge of civics.
The Michigan Chamber of Commerce is involved in organizing this initiative within the state.
