Northern Tier Trail Improvements to Begin this July, Community Advised of Trail Closures

Community members are advised that portions of the Northern Tier Trail located in Ingham County will be intermittently closed next week, July 11-12, to accommodate crack sealing along the trail.

During the intermittent closures, barricades and signs will be in place in the areas where work is being performed.

Additionally, an improvement project is scheduled to begin at the end of July to relocate a portion of the trail away from the Sanderson Drain and reconstruct a portion of the trail. During this work, sections of the trail between the East Lansing Soccer Complex and Abbey Road (view site https://www.cityofeastlansing.com/DocumentCenter/View/12517/Site-Plan_7-8-2022-PDF) will be closed and trail users will be detoured around the construction area. Barricades and signs will be in place. Once it has begun, this relocation and reconstruction project is expected to take approximately six to eight weeks to be completed.

The community’s patience is appreciated during this important work along the trail. Funding for this trail improvement project has been provided by the Ingham County Trails and Parks Millage.
