6.7% of Ingham County residents considered unemployed in 2021

Ingham County recorded an unemployment rate of 6.7% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 10,159 people out of the 285,660 living in Ingham County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Ingham County has remained fairly stable compared to the 6.7% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Ingham County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 6.2%.

Of the 141,649 people who had a job during that time, 194 were employed in the Armed Forces and 141,455 belonged to the civilian labor force.
