Elissa Slotkin engages with community and shares unexpected encounters

Representative Elissa Slotkin, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th District since 2019, recently shared a series of experiences and meetings through her social media platform. Born in New York City in 1976 and residing in Lansing, Slotkin graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

On January 26, 2025, Rep. Slotkin posted about an unexpected encounter during her day: "Feeding a reindeer was not on my bingo card today!"

Continuing into the next day, on January 27, she shared insights from discussions with local leaders regarding federal assistance and policies under the new administration. She highlighted meeting a remarkable student from Groves High School: "We discussed local priorities for federal assistance and how the new Administration’s policies will impact our communities. We also ran into a special Groves High School student who is absolutely killing it!! Love seeing our young leaders making huge impacts!"

Further detailing her engagements on January 27, Rep. Slotkin described her productive interactions with various officials over lunch at Anita's in Ferndale and later at Biscuits & Bourbon in Pontiac. Among those she met were Oakland County Executive David Coulter and several other prominent local figures: "A great day w/local leaders! Had lunch at Anitas with Oakland Co. Exec @davidwcoulter in Ferndale. Then at Biscuits & Bourbon in Pontiac I met with Mayor @Greimel4Pontiac, Auburn Hills Deputy Mayor @eugenehawkins03, Oakland Co. Commissioner @angelapowell12 & Judge Traci Richards."
